Fauvism Cubism Expressionism was beyond my expectation. I had gotten at least 10 times less value of Fauvism Cubism Expressionism.
Can you name me a less heard-of art movement and explain it?
We all know the great movements — Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic, Rococo, Romantic, Neo-Classical, Pre-Raphaelite, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism, Fauvism, Der Blau Reiter, Die Brucke, Expressionism, Symbolism, Dada, Imagism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Land Art … Can somebody name a less heard-of Fauvism Cubism Expressionism art movement or style and explain it, and naming some artists involved in it?I’ll start the ball rolling by suggesting the Nanyang style — “Nanyang” refers to the southern coast of China, which refers to the Southeast asian nations. In the early 1900s, some Chinese artists, having left China to study art in the Western cities such as Paris, decided to pioneer an art style marrying the Eastern and Western elements of art, such as calligraphy and oil painting. This gradual shift in their art style display the new artistic identity for the equatorial, tropical island of Singapore, where the East-meets-West identity prevailed for the next decades. Some major artists would be Chen Wen Tsi, Chen Chong Swee, Georgette Chen, Liu Kang and Cheong Soo Pieng.
