this powerhead i ran it in my 55 gallon and it sucked up alot of my fishes. I was wondering where all my fish went and when i decided to check the powerhead … they were all stuck in there. It was really gross and i was shocked … this is the reason why i gave it one star. However, if you run it with a sponge filter it’s fine, but small fishes like neons and guppies got stuck in that green part. I guess with big fishes this is fine, but with small fishes you guys have to run it with a sponge filter.

I see faces Everywhere? anyone else?
I’m not talking about faces of spirits or anything of the supernatural nature. Its mostly looking at something and seeing a face or parts of the face on it just based on how somethings are arranged. For example, My ceiling is painted differently from the rest of my room and for some reason every time I look up I see parts of faces or full faces and they overlap a lot.. Listed abstract painting They are very detailed with depth, “shading” and expressions. (They look like pencil sketches). I know part of it has to do with how the ceiling is painted and I thought that lighting would also have an impact, but no matter what time of day it is I always see the same figures. This happens when I look at carpets, walls, on blank paper, bathroom tiles, tree- trunk/limbs-(more so than anything on this list). Abstract paintings/ pictures ,sometimes even when I sit and watch the current of the river at a nearby park. Its never just objects or animals. Its always the face(especially eyes) that my mind interprets first.I was wondering why do you think I see faces all over the place and if you have or had similar experiences.P.S: I know that these things aren’t real and that they are just part of my imagination.

I bought AquaClear 70 Powerhead and the filter, however, they cannot connect together, without the filter, the power head can only disturb the water, I send emails to Amazon, they said the product didn’t belong to them, they could not help me to solve the problem. I bought another brand filter. The “Aquaclear Power Head” and the “Filter” are still stored on the corner of my cabinet. My question is why the “set” they sold does not fit each other. This stuff waisted more than $60 of my money!

these heads are very nice, the price from amazon was hard to beat. Very powerful currents the reverse flow could be a little stronger but i guess if it was it would suck up all my fish =)

This powerhead is a great thing to have for your aquarium if the tank is between 55-90 gallons. It really packs a punch for its size, and has the capacity to move a lot of water fairly quickly. It can also be used in smaller aquariums too, because the waterflow on this powerhead is ADJUSTABLE (a feature that is rarely seen on other powerheads) – it can filter 300 g.p.h. or adjusted to filter only a trickle. So this can be a used in aquariums under 55 gallons too.

This also has another unique feature – a REVERSE-FLOW option – so the powerhead can also take water from close to the surface and move it through the gravel in the opposite direction. Whichever method of gravel filtration you prefer, this powerhead can accommodate you.

It comes with tubes that provide for the option of additional airation through the spout. So if you have a big aquarium loaded with oxygen hungry fish, these powerheads can provide lots of water surface agitation, water airation with bubbles, or you can just omit the bubbles entirely and stick with undergravel filtration only.

You can also buy attachable power filters to this separately – no need to invest in expensive poewr filters and powerheads separately – just buy this item and the attachable power filters and you’re set for a powerhead / power filter in the same unit to clean up and polish your aquarium water. Look for the AQUA CLEAR Large Quick Filter and the Large Quick Filter Cartidges for this purpose.

I’ve been involved with aquariums for over 16 years, and this is one of the finest accessories for an aquarium I’ve ever had. If you’re considering ornamental fish as a hobby, I heartily recommend this powerhead. It is powerful, quiet, and gives your options of reverse flow and adjustable waterflow.

Be advised on one thing – when the powerhead is operating in reverse flow, small fins like guppies can get stuck to the plastic grid from which water flows into the powerehead – and never escape. So this item is better suited to larger fish when using the reverse flow feature. But it’s adjustability enables you to slow the waterflow to a trickle for a powerhead that does not promote too much water turbulation for smaller fish.

Powerful, compact unit.. Reverse and forward switches making this unit wonderful for enhancing beneficial bacteria in your aquarium.. Only problem I have found is its difficult to use the forward and backward switch, while in the aquarium and the switches sometimes break off

I see no place to attach this to the trash can. No instructions came with it. It was a waste of money.

Glad I bought it, doesn’t malfunction. It’s an adapter that gets the job done on a machine that really needs the power. Highly recommend purchasing it with the can (which we love).

The Amazon page I was on suggested I buy this adapter for the iTouchless 13 gallon trash can I bought as a gift for my parents…Well, the unit doesn’t take an adapter!!!! Nice…

Coker March 14, 2011 at 8:49 am

For some UNKNOWN reason Amazon recommended this adapter to be purchased for “iTouchless Stainless-Steel Hands-Free 13-Gallon Infrared Automatic Trash Can”:
ASIN: B000EJVYTS
Item model number: DZT13/IT13CB

NOTE! YOU CANNOT use it with the above mentioned model.

I assume it is only for NX, SX, HX & MX (and again, NOT the one mentioned above).

This is a great power head. It was exactly what I needed. It’s not too big or too loud and it fits perfectly on my 29 gallon aquarium. It produces great water flow too. Highly recommended.

This is a great high flow power head at a great price. I recommend it highly.

My wife and I purchased this filtration system from PetSmart and were very pleased by how easy it was to setup and get running. For a while, the filter worked without a hitch. We replaced the carbon, bio, and sponge in cycles and even cleaned out the tubes, motor and reservoir too. Then the problems began only after a few months.

Our problem with this is that because the sponge, is placed at the bottom of the filter basket, it seems to always want to float upwards. When it floats upwards, it tends to knock the lid off and in one extreme case, it floated almost completely out of the filtration system and started dumping gallons of water all over the place. You can only imagine what it feels like to come home one afternoon from work to find this has occurred.

I think if this flaw in design can be corrected and made the suction tube a bit more easier to clean, this would be a superb product.

I bought this filter for a 29 gallon tank that was laying dormant for many years. It works well; however; the Wisper 600 it was replacing was an infinitely better design. The vertical stacking of the filter medium means that all maintenance and media changes usually have to be done by taking it off the tank as opposed to the Whisper design where the media fits in a groove in the box seperating the filtered and unfiltered sections and can be removed and replaced without removing the filter from the tank. The design of the intake tube is also annoying; the slotted end (to prevent the fish from getting sucked up) is integrated into the lift tube both on the primary tube and the extension. This impedes water movement somewhat.
For the price ($26 with shipping) it’s the most filter power for the money. For better design and sturdier construction I would recommend Second Nature’s Whisper line at a considerable higher cost.

This is the best filter on the planet. I feel bad for the reviewer and his wife because something is wrong. They said the sponge keeps floating to the top. Thats impossible unless the media rack is broken or missing. The 3 sided media rack is the part that you must pull out of the filter with your thumb and index finger to get the media out. And when you stack the sponge and media bags in the rack and stand the sides of the rack up and hold tight with your thumb and index finger and push it back into the filter which locks the sponge and media in so that it is impossible to float. The media rack has spears that wont let it float. I hope that they shop around because its easy to find the replacement parts really cheep to fix it. They won’t regret it because I won’t use any other make filter anymore because no other filter ( including canister filters ) can hold a candle to Aquaclear power filters.

I just love this filter! It does a great job! Keeps the water crystal clear! No other filter, in my opinion, does a better job. If I could give it more stars, I would!
