A Few More Facts On Medium Abstract Painting

I thought this would add just what I needed in my living room over my couch. The photo looked like white and purple tulips which gave me a hint of color I needed for my mostly blue and black decor. The light tulips are actually yellow and probably won’t go in the room. Just arrived today and can’t decide if I will keep it.

Robert Rauchschenberg tried to bridge the gap between art and life. He is most famous for his “combines” like this one, “Estate” (1963).His use of paint, photographic images, and a variety of objects gave him a wide medium to work in. This painting is his interpetation of New York City. He combines paint and silk-screened ink images. Strong brush strokes demonstrate abstract expressionisim, while modern images make this painting a very important Medium abstract painting piece of the pop art movement. The photographic images are very dark, perhaps showing the dark nature of New York City. The images are colored within the blue range, contrasting with a lot of white in them as well. The paint strokes Rauschenberg added are bright and vibrant. Hot shades of yellow and orange highlight a stop sign, while rich shades of blue are added amoung the dark pictures of ugly buildings. The various shades of colors in the images show the contours of buildings shapes and the street sign pole. A rainbow is shown over in the right hand corner over an old apartment building. Perhaps Rauschenberg saw the lighter aspects of an otherwise bad neighborhood. I believe this painting explains the chaos of the society we live in, for America, not only New York City. Although each photo is placed at an angle or highlighted with paint each retains its individuality. All of them seen to be placed in abstract chaos but they all blend well as if in a conversation.

I’ve been looking for some hand-drawn paintings to decorate several rooms. Found this one on Amazon, have it shipped to my home address. The quality is actually very good. 3-piece painting like this will cost over $120 at Ikea (not even hand drawn) and other places.
